Kanika Christian is a Fitness Professional, who is certified as a Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She began as a Fitness Enthusiast in 2012 when she began her journey to get in shape through proper nutrition and exercise, which over time has resulted in a weight loss of 50 ponds. She has living a gluten-free and dairy-free lifestyle for the past 3 years. Her journey has been documented on social media and has helped inspire individuals around the world. Her healthy lifestyle is maintained by working out 5-6 times per week doing cardio and weight training and by planning and preparing meals for the week to avoid choosing less nutrition option impulsively. Kanika is a wife and mother of 3 children and has served as a volunteer in many positions within her community. She has earned a MBA in Applied Management form Indiana Wesleyan University and a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Sociology with a minor in Biology from Kent State University. She has been able to manage staying fit the same way she did when she studied to further her education – she dedicates time in her schedule each day to workout. It is not optional – the same way it is not to miss brushing one’s teeth.
Four years ago, Kanika never imagined how far she would go with her fitness goals. In addition to losing weight, she has fallen in love with lifting weights. She hopes to inspire other women to get over their concern of lifting heavy weights for fear of looking manly. She has proven that a woman can participate in strength training and still have curves and look feminine. This past October, she competed in the bikini category of a bodybuilding fitness competition. She has never felt more beautiful and strong. This was a big accomplishment for her, and she looks forward to competing again. Her love of fitness inspired her to get certified as a personal trainer, and she is studying to be a group fitness instructor as well. Kanika would love to keep acquiring more knowledge about fitness and nutrition to help others near her and around the world. It still amazes her that all of this from her to desire to look and feel better way back then.
Kanika believes that eating clean and exercising is a lifestyle. The changes for her began to show results when she stopped doing fad diets and doing exercise just to get to a temporary goal such as to look good for an upcoming vacation. Eating lean meats and protein – chicken, fish, turkey, and eggs – with a variety of vegetables, unprocessed carbohydrates, some fruit, and healthy fats is a daily lifestyle that she uses to stay fit and healthy. She, now, has more confidence, more energy, better sleep, and less sensitivity reactions and digestive issues since changing to a gluten and dairy diet. She would like to continue to build strength, stay lean, and improve her overall fitness level. Kanika encourages others to examine to their current health and fitness status, and if the evaluation does not fit their desired goal, a change needs to happen. Consistency, focus and positive effort will make the desire to achieve one’s goal a reality. It certainly worked for her.
